Fancy a change from fly fishing for Trout and Salmon? Why
not try some arm wrenching fun fishing for Carp and Pike. Anyone who has
fished for these muscular fish on standard coarse fishing Carp rods realize
the power these fish have. On an 8-weight fly rod the adrenalin
is obscene. It is nothing for a 5 pound Carp, which is small, to take 15
minutes to land. You won't believe how much your arm will ache after
landing a couple of these titans.
To have a chance of catching one of these fish you will
have to be a reasonable caster. Carp are spooky at the best of times and
course fisheries are not geared up for fly fishing. Some inventive
casting techniques are usually required. Pike on the other hand are far
from line shy. However you will need a fly that is a reasonable baitfish
imitation. This means casting a fly 4-12 inches in length!
This is where Barracuda guiding comes to the fore. Not
only can we get you near the fish but we can help you with those casting
skills that will always improve your chances. We offer daily packages in
the North West, North Wales and Cornwall. Why Cornwall we hear you ask?
Due to the weather conditions in Cornwall Carp will rise to a dry fly
during the winter months. There is no better sight than Carp's big lips
rising from the depths to lazily suck in that dry fly!
