Body Stretch Bloodworm The CudaFly Forum for all your latest Fly Fishing News and Tying Patterns Fly Fishing Vacations and Trips

We all know how successful fishing bloodworm patterns can be on all Stillwater’s whether large or small. For years I have endeavored to try and obtain the translucent look of the natural whilst keeping the pattern both simple to tie yet durable. After experimenting with products such as epoxy etc for many years the Juri Klima body stretch material combined with a couple of coats of liquid glass gives the translucency that I require and that simplicity. This is an extremely effective pattern, fished slowly within the feeding zone has generated many bag limits either for pleasure or on the competition scene. Fly Tying Method
Tying Procedure
2. Trim off the excess. Pull the body stretch tight and follow down the hook with thread with open turns. It is important that you open the turns as much as possible as the hook shank will the show through the body material giving the translucent effect.
3. When you have reached the bend return to the eye in open turns.
4. The Body Stretch material has a slight line down the centre. Using this as a guide, stretch the Body Stretch and return to the eye of the hook in overlapping turns. Once returned to the eye of the hook, tie off and trim excess. Whip Finish and coat with 3 coats of liquid glass letting each coat dry thoroughly.
5. As an alternative why not try changing the body colour to create a whole range of midge pupa. Below is an example of an olive buzzer tied with this wonderful material.
